Oxford and Lafayette County, Mississippi is home to more than SEC Football, the Square, and William Faulkner’s fictional Yoknapatawpha County. For the cyclist, both experienced and novice, Oxford holds a secret. The rolling fields and forests of Lafayette County host some of the most diverse and plentiful cycling options anywhere in the Southeast.
While we might not have a mountain range, or even a lot of cyclists, but if you visit Oxford you’ll find quiet, rolling country roads that can be laced together for hundreds of miles of road riding bliss every month of the year. Just a few miles from the Square, Holly Springs National Forest hosts 40+ miles of pristine gravel roads meandering through tall trees and past quiet creeks and hidden lakes, For the fat tire and knobby-set, Oxford has two singletrack systems that with over 35 miles of hand built, manicured trail catering to all abilities, from the first time rider to the most experienced professional- most of it right here in the center of town!
And when your ride is done (or not yet started), Oxford won’t let you down. With nicknames like the Little Easy and the Velvet Ditch, tucking into a table or pulling up a seat at a bar is never hard.

From the best bookstores on the planet, to historic homes and art museums, to world-class shopping and entertainment options, there’s always something to do.
