Our Mission

Oxford, MS is a unique town where many of the residents, the student body, continually refreshes itself. Being the home of the University of Mississippi ensures that folks regularly come and go as students, parents, and visitors. Despite the importance of tourism for the area, there has been no source to learn of the areas plentiful cycling related, or post-ride, options. That’s no more.

Ride Oxford aims to be a repository of tools, information, and encouragement to get you going.

After a couple of trips to Bentonville, AR, we were inspired by not only what they have accomplished, but also by what we could achieve in Oxford. Bentonville is getting tons of nationwide attention for its bicycle friendly culture and world-class mountain bike trails. Thanks to the Walton Family Foundation's Home Region Program, Bentonville has a gargantuan advantage in terms of reach and resources. However, we realized that once you push past the glitz, Oxford actually has TONS more riding options, and dang near just as many entertainment options, when it comes right down to it.

So that’s how this page got here. It’s a landing spot for something that hopefully turns into something bigger and more useful in the future.

While we are just a few folks and a website, what it represent is something that can be transformative. Collectively, the cyclists in Oxford have literally ridden and raced along some of the most picturesque roads and trails anywhere in the world. Despite having visited many of the top go-to cycling destinations, there’s something Oxford offers that few other places can match.

Pound for pound, we haven’t seen anywhere in our travels that have such easy access to so many cycling options. Sure, we aren’t talking about the Rockies, the Pyrenees or the Pacific Coast Highway, but how accessible are those places really? What we have here is broadly accessible, beginner and experienced alike, before, during and after work, before or after the Grove, straight out of your driveway, 365 days a year.

Our mission is to provide a consistent, up to date, reliable repository for any and all riding options in the Oxford/Lafayette County area.
